Monthly estimate = mid-range one-bedroom rent (where held) + 75% of the daily living estimate × 30; flights between stops, coworking and insurance are extra.

Assumptions

  • Monthly cost = our mid-range one-bedroom rent estimate (where held) plus 75 percent of the daily living estimate for 30 days; flights between stops are extra.
  • Climate suitability uses WMO monthly normals (maximum temperature and rainfall) against your temperature and rain preferences; destinations without normals fall back to editorial best months.
  • Internet, community and coworking are editorial assessments, dated on each destination page.
  • Visa lines are prompts to verify in the Visa & Work Finder, not eligibility decisions.

Not right? Change the month, budget, temperature or continents and rebuild; save the version you like to regenerate it next year.

Methodology

Each slot scores every eligible destination: 5 × climate fit (WMO monthly maximum temperature and rainfall against your preference and rain tolerance; editorial best months where no normals exist), up to 1.5 for community weighted by your social preference, up to 1 for internet, up to 1.5 for headroom under your budget, penalties for setting mismatches, a time-zone overlap term (hours of the employer’s working day that fall between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. locally, with summer-time approximation), and a distance penalty from the previous stop. Internet, coworking and community are editorial assessments dated on each destination page. Visa lines are prompts to verify, not decisions.
