This is the calendar view of the data behind our twelve monthly nomad pages, each of which ranks every destination for that month by climate comfort (WMO normals against a warm-and-dry preference), then community, internet and cost. The summary below names the leaders; the monthly pages carry the full tables, the figures and the method.
January and February
The northern winter sends nomads to the tropics' dry season and the southern summer: Chiang Mai (cool season, the original community), Bangkok, Siem Reap, Medellín, Mexico City and Oaxaca (dry, mild), Cape Town at its summer peak, Las Palmas at 21°C for Europeans who want to stay in the EU, and Playa del Carmen for the Caribbean.
March and April
Southeast Asia's mainland turns hot and smoky; the smart money moves to Da Nang and Hoi An (their best beach months), Kyoto and Tokyo for blossom season, Lisbon as spring arrives, Marrakech before the heat, Buenos Aires in its autumn, and Kathmandu for the spring trekking window.
May and June
The Mediterranean's finest weeks: Barcelona, Split, Athens, Porto and Lisbon before the August crowds; Tbilisi and Budapest in late spring; Bali as its dry season begins; Cusco at the start of the Andean dry season.
July and August
Europe's coast is expensive and full; the data points inland and upward: Tbilisi (hot in the city, perfect in the mountains), Funchal and Las Palmas (26°C with Atlantic breezes), Prague and Budapest (warm, not oppressive), Bali in the heart of its dry season, Cape Town's cheap, green winter for those who do not need beach weather, and Medellín's drier mid-year window.
September and October
The best months in the northern temperate world: Lisbon, Porto, Split, Athens, Istanbul, Tirana, Tbilisi (wine harvest), Seoul and Tokyo in autumn, Kathmandu for the great trekking season, Zanzibar at the end of its dry season.
November and December
Back to the tropics: Chiang Mai and Bangkok as the cool season opens, Hanoi's golden autumn (November), Siem Reap, Kuala Lumpur (equatorial, any month), Mexico City and Oaxaca after the rains, Cape Town as summer arrives, Las Palmas and Funchal for Europe's mildest winter.
Every ranking above is reproducible on the monthly pages, where the climate figures, costs and editorial scores sit beside each name. Build a personal version in the circuit builder.
