Scoring: lifestyle fit (editorial, 1 to 5) × 1.2; +1.5 per matched interest tag; climate fit from WMO normals for the travel months (or editorial best months where no normals exist) × 3; a cost term that rewards destinations under your per-day budget and penalises those over it; +2.5 for preferred regions; exclusion of avoided regions. Sequencing: nearest-neighbour from the best-scored start, weighted so quality still counts. Days: proportional to pace with a small bonus for cities with more to do. Costs: per-destination daily estimates by tier × days, plus a distance-based transport allowance ($0.045 per km overland, $0.11 per km plus $35 by air).
