Georgia

The nomad world's open secret: a one-year visa-free stay for most Western passports, an 8,000-year wine culture, the Caucasus on the doorstep and a capital whose crumbling-grand old town hides some of the best-value cafes and apartments anywhere.

Ingresso e visti

Citizens of around 95 countries, including the US, UK, EU, Canada and Australia, may stay visa-free for up to one full year. The Remotely from Georgia programme has ended, but the one-year rule and the Individual Entrepreneur tax regime (1 percent on turnover under a threshold) make Georgia unusually friendly to freelancers.

Lavoro da remoto e soggiorni prolungati

Sicurezza

Low crime. Avoid the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia (government warnings apply). Driving standards are poor; sidewalks and road crossings need attention. Political protests in Tbilisi can be large.

Avviso ufficiale: Georgia - Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions (Dipartimento di Stato degli Stati Uniti, ). Consiglio UK FCDO ↗

Salute

Private clinics in Tbilisi are good and inexpensive; rural care is basic. Insurance recommended.

Denaro

Lari only; cards widely accepted in Tbilisi and Batumi, cash in villages. TBC and Bank of Georgia ATMs are everywhere and reliable.

Mance: Around 10 percent; service charge often included · Acqua del rubinetto: Safe to drink in Tbilisi

Come spostarsi

Marshrutkas (minibuses) go everywhere cheaply; the overnight train to Batumi and Zugdidi is comfortable. Bolt and Yandex Go handle city rides for a dollar or two.

SIM e connettività

Magti has the best coverage, then Silknet (Geocell) and Cellfie; SIMs cost a few lari with generous data.
