Angkor is the reason most people come and the reason they stay longer than planned. Cambodia is one of the cheapest countries in Asia for long stays, with an easy visa regime and a dollarised economy that makes budgeting simple.
Binnenkomst en visa
A 30-day tourist visa (T) is available on arrival at airports and most land borders, or as an e-visa in advance through the official portal. The ordinary visa (E) can be extended for longer stays through agents and is the usual route for people staying months.

Bag snatching from motorbikes in Phnom Penh is common; keep phones out of sight on tuk-tuks. Land mines remain in remote border areas (stay on marked paths). Siem Reap is relaxed and safe by comparison.

Gezondheid
Dengue year-round; malaria in remote forested areas. Private clinics in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap handle routine care; Bangkok for anything serious.
Geld
US dollars are used for anything over a dollar; riel for small change. ATMs dispense dollars with fees of 4 to 5 USD per withdrawal. Torn or old dollar notes are often refused.

Rondkomen
Giant Ibis and Mekong Express run comfortable buses between the main cities; PassApp and Grab handle tuk-tuks. Flights are short but relatively pricey.
